Pressure compensating means the internal pressure of a subsea device is actively balanced against the surrounding water pressure, preventing seawater ingress. In oil-compensated systems like the 260cc Oil Compensator, a rolling diaphragm and spring maintain 0.7 to 1 bar of positive internal pressure over the full oil volume, protecting sensitive electronics and mechanical components at depths up to 6000 m.
