Self-Indexing Compensators

This question relates to firearm muzzle devices and is not applicable to NV Mechanics Design Ltd.'s product range. Our self-indexing compensators are pressure-compensating systems engineered for subsea and underwater robotics applications, including ROVs, oil-filled actuators, and deep-sea equipment rated to depths of up to 6,000 meters.

The 260cc Oil Compensator is rated for depths up to 6,000 meters, making it suitable for the most demanding deep-sea applications. It maintains 0.7 to 1 bar of positive internal pressure across its full volume range, constructed from Delrin with SST or Inconel spring options for corrosion resistance.

The 260cc Oil Compensator is compatible with Panolin or Telus 22 oils. These fluids are recommended to ensure proper diaphragm performance and long-term reliability in submerged environments. Using incompatible oils may affect the integrity of the rolling diaphragm and internal components.

Both the Linear and Rotary Self-Compensated Actuators feature an integrated absolute 30-bit multi-turn encoder mounted on the output shaft. This encoder retains position data across power cycles, eliminating the need for homing routines after restart — critical for subsea systems where re-homing may be impractical or unsafe.

The self-compensated actuators support RS422 (RS485 duplex on 4 wires) and RS232 serial communication at 19200 baud, 8-N-1. Configurable parameters, including virtual limit switches and status broadcast frequency, are stored in internal EEPROM. A Windows utility application is also provided to simplify setup and commissioning.
