High Force Electric Linear Underwater Actuator for Industrial Use

An actuator's purpose is to create controlled mechanical movement in response to an electrical signal. In subsea and offshore environments, linear underwater actuators move, position, or apply force to components such as valves, ROV manipulators, and pipeline infrastructure — replacing manual intervention and enabling safe, precise remote operation at depth.

These actuators are available in two depth ratings: up to 3,000 msw (meters of sea water) for the Self-Compensated model, and up to 6,000 meters for the 60,000 N Force and Trunion 1000N models. This makes them suitable for shallow subsea tasks through full deep-ocean deployments on ROVs and offshore infrastructure.

The actuators are constructed from Stainless Steel 316 (SST 316) or Titanium, both chosen for superior corrosion resistance in harsh marine and saltwater environments. Seacon underwater connectors provide reliable subsea electrical connectivity, and brushless motor designs eliminate brush wear for extended service life underwater.

Control interfaces vary by model. The Self-Compensated actuator features integrated RS422/RS232 serial communication with an onboard 30-bit absolute encoder, enabling standalone position control. The 60,000 N Force and Trunion models use an external rotary resolver on the motor shaft for position feedback, with driver and control logic sourced separately.

Power supply options depend on the model. The Linear Actuator 60,000 N Force operates at 230 VDC. The Trunion 1000N model supports 24 VDC, 48 VDC, or 230 VDC, offering flexibility for different ROV and subsea system power architectures. The Self-Compensated model runs on 24 VDC.
