Electrak MD Linear Actuator Product Features

The actuators are constructed from Stainless Steel 316 (SST 316) or Titanium, both of which offer excellent corrosion resistance in saltwater and deep-sea marine environments. Seacon underwater connectors are used for reliable subsea electrical connectivity across all models in the Electrak MD range.

All Electrak MD actuators use brushless motors for high reliability and longevity. Position feedback options include a rotary resolver mounted on the motor shaft for the high-force models, and a 30-bit absolute multi-turn encoder on the output shaft for the Self-Compensated model, which retains position data between power cycles.

Power supply compatibility varies by model. The 60,000 N Force model operates on 230 VDC. The Trunion 1000N model supports 24 VDC, 48 VDC, and 230 VDC. The Self-Compensated model operates on 24 VDC. Selecting the correct voltage for your system is essential — contact the manufacturer to confirm compatibility with your application.

The Linear Actuator – Self Compensated supports RS422 (RS485 duplex on 4 wires) and RS232 communication at 19200 baud, 8, N, 1. It broadcasts status at 10 Hz (configurable via internal EEPROM) and includes 2 software virtual limit switches for travel limiting, enabling straightforward integration into ROV and subsea control systems.

The Electrak MD range covers a wide force spectrum. The Self-Compensated model delivers 1,000 N to 1,500 N. The Trunion 1000N series scales from 1,000 N up to 77,500 N. The 60,000 N Force model delivers a peak axial force of 50,000 N, supporting everything from precision instrumentation to heavy-duty subsea valve and pipeline control.

It depends on the model. The Linear Actuator – Self Compensated includes all logic and driver circuitry internally, enabling standalone RS422/RS232 control without external controllers. The 60,000 N Force and Trunion 1000N models use external resolver feedback and do not include driver or control logic — these must be specified and sourced separately.
